Leyla Spencer/Artwares creates mixed media mosaics using stained glass, glass tile, gems, found objects and whatever else she finds interesting.
Leyla Spencer started as a painter and after doing a series of paintings on grids, mosaic seemed a logical transition. For the past 20 years, she has been exploring different styles of mosaic from tile to sheet glass, and mixed media. Lately, Spencer has been working on a series, based on circles and spirals. Some of her other favorite mosaics are imaginary birds and fanciful fish. She has also done true representations of the former.
Spencer has pieces in the Johnson and Johnson collection as well as many private collections.
The mosaics shown on these pages are examples of works and can be approximated on a commissioned basis. They can be made to be used either inside or outside. Please email for more information.
